The five-year-old will now need to pass a stalls test before he is allowed to run again and Tregoning intends on giving him plenty of practice.
With Twice Over just holding on from Sri Putra and Viscount Nelson, Tregoning was left frustrated by his charge, believing he would have gone very close to winning.
"He's been pretty good in the past but horses can do this," said Tregoning.
"It was such a shame with it being a small field. It was so important for the sponsors to get him to race as it lost a lot of clout as a race.
"If you look at the form with Twice Over from the Champion Stakes, he would have been bang there and he would have made more of a race of it.
"Possibly, in my opinion, Twice Over may have run a bit below par - I don't think Sri Putra should have finished as close to him so it was an odd one.
"The way the race was run I think he'd have got them so it was hugely disappointing.
"My own view about stalls is that I do agree and that you can't keep the others waiting after a second attempt, but in a Group One like that and when we are trying to keep sponsors involved, he could have been given a bit longer.
"Having said that, he was stubborn and he was proving difficult. It has only happened once to me before and certainly not in a Group One.
"Our plan, once he has hopefully passed his stalls test and been to a racecourse a few times, is that he will line up for the King George as that was his aim all along.
"You just need to look at horses like Spanish Moon, it's as if someone flicks a switch, but he is fine again now.
"My biggest gripe is that horses who wear a blind have to go in first, surely it should be the other way round."
