Ryan Day secures 2nd round match
In the latest match from the world snooker results, Ryan Day successfully rolled past Stephen Lee into the second round.
Stephen Lee who previously occupied the world number five spot was given a snooker lesson from dark horse Ryan Day, as the Welshmen ran out 10-4 winner. Day will now face Nigel bond in the next round, who was responsible for the exit of Peter Ebdon. Day's victory added to the list of shock world snooker results which has snooker punters scratching their heads!
Day showed control throughout the match and achieved a 120 break in the eighth frame, which was a treat for the onlooking Sheffield crowd. This would have been a total clearance, but for an awkward black refusing to go into the pocket.
Stephen Lee who has slipped outside the top 20 rankings, had a brief period of dominance when he potted six reds and blacks at the beginning of the 13th frame.
£157,000 would have been a nice consolation for Lee, who had his eye of the all-elusive 147, but an attempted double on the next red failed to find the pocket.
This meant that Day won the set and the match, securing his place in the second round of the World Snooker Championship.
