How do Odds on Field Hockey Work?
Just like all our betting markets at BoyleSports, you’ll see our field hockey odds written as fractional odds.
An example of this is 5/1. With a 5/1 bet, it means you win 5x your stake if your bet is successful. So, if you bet £10, you would win £50 back. Plus, you get your original stake back too, for a total of £60.
That’s a simple example, and in reality fractional odds can be a little more complicated. For example, odds of 7/3. But they still work in the same way.
● If you placed a successful £3 bet at 7/3, you’d win £7. You also get your £3 bet back for a total pot of £10.
● If you bet £1 at 7/3, and you won, you’d win £2.33. You also get your £1 bet back for a total pot of £3.33.
The below table has some other examples of fractional odds to help you understand how they work.
If you place a £1 stake, your potential winnings depend on the odds. At 10/1 odds, you would win £10, and with your stake returned, your total winnings would be £11.
With 5/1 odds, your winnings would be £5, plus your £1 stake returned, making a total of £6.
At 10/3 odds, a £1 stake would result in £3.33 winnings, and with the stake returned, the total comes to £4.33.
For 21/10 odds, the winnings would be £2.10, and adding back the stake, the total becomes £3.10.
Finally, at 7/11 odds, the winnings would be £0.64, and with the stake returned, the total winnings would be £1.64.
At BoyleSports, we use a range of data and knowledge to set our field hockey odds, taking into account a number of factors, including:
● A team’s form and recent run of results
● Injuries or suspensions to key players
● A team’s home vs. away performance
● The past head-to-head results between two teams
● Current league standing
Tips for Field Hockey Betting
Follow these simple field hockey betting tips to help inform your hockey betting:
● Study team form: Look at each team’s recent results and see if you can spot any trends.
● Analyse head-to-head records: How teams have fared against each other previously will likely give a good indication of the next result.
● Consider home advantage: Some teams consistently perform better on their home turf.
● Look at past performances in competitions: If one team has a particularly good record at the Olympics, they will likely go into their Olympic matches with confidence.
● Monitor team news: Stay updated on injuries, suspensions, and lineup changes.
